On Saturday 18th June, the band took to the stage to perform in our final concert of the annual series at St John’s Church, Walsall Wood.

Our programme for the evening, included a selection of original brass band compositions written by our very own resident composer, Samuel Shelley. One of the pieces, Matka is a musical representation of Sam’s journey as a composer and was a particular highlight of the evening, it also features on our new CD that is to be released later in the year.

The band’s Principal euphonium player, Mark Glover amazed the audience with a performance of another of Sam’s pieces, Poor Wayfaring Stranger, a beautiful arrangement of a traditional folk song, which also features on our new CD.
