Paul was part of the Salvation Army from a young age and was taught to play Baritone aged 7. Aged 12 he was handed a Trombone which he played for 25 years. Paul was band leader at his local Salvation Army church in Cannock for 16 years, encouraging and leading around 60 young people through that time, many of whom are now adults still involved in banding to this day. He also plays guitar and bass in a wide variety of musical ensembles and bands.
Paul joined the Staffordshire band on 2nd Baritone in 2021, thrilled to have been offered a place despite a challenging and busy work life and pattern. Paul decided post-lockdown to push the boat out with his schedule and time, to make a positive return to banding.
