Annie joined the band in 2007, having been wowed by their performance at an annual, much talked about concert, in the village where she grew up. Her first experience of competing in a regional contest resulted in a Championship Section win and an appearance at the National Brass Band Championships later that year – a fantastic way to kick-start her brass banding journey. Annie first began playing drums at Shire Oak School – which has boasted an excellent reputation for its music education over many years and has provided the musical foundation for a number of the band’s players (in particular, members of the percussion section).
