On Sunday 2nd October 2022, the band travelled to Derbyshire to take part in the Bolsover Festival of Brass. We were delighted to be awarded third place in both the Championship and First Sections!
Under the expert baton of Leigh Baker, the band performed a programme of brand new brass band compositions.
We opened the programme with Soaring Through The Skies, an original piece by the band’s Composer in Residence, Samuel Shelley and it is the title track of our latest CD recording.
To follow, the band performed a beautiful piece called My Lord Has Come, by Will Todd and arranged by Samuel Shelley.
Then the band’s Principal E Flat Bass player, Ademola Odedina took to the stage to play an especially commissioned piece, Walking The Bass, written for him by Stephen Roberts.
To close the programme, the band performed Heroes Of Our Time, a piece written by Samuel Shelley as a tribute to all front line workers during the covid pandemic.
