On Friday 25th November, the band celebrated its annual Christmas dinner dance at Druids Heath Golf Club. Expertly organised by the band’s Welfare and Wellbeing Manager, Sue Lacey, the event was a chance for the band to get together socially, reflect on the past year and recognise certain members of the band for their outstanding achievements and contribution.
After a delicious three course meal, our Chairman, Adrian Lacey and Musical Director, Craig Williams took to the microphone to speak about what an amazing year it has been for the band and to hand out the special awards that went to:
Player of the Year – Ed Stinton (Solo Baritone)
Most Improved Player of the Year – Nick Lear (Soprano Cornet) and Dan Pugh (Third Cornet)
Chair’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Band – Ed Stinton (Solo Baritone)
Bandsperson of the Year (voted for by the band) – Dan Pugh
A special thanks goes to Sue Lacey for organising such a wonderful night of celebration!

“It has been an extremely busy year for the band, with no traditional Summer break. Everyone’s commitment and hard work has really paid off, with a win at the Butlins contest, first place at the Midlands Area, a third place at the National Finals and two third places at Bolsover Festival of Brass. Their work ethic is to be commended and we look forward to further success and progression throughout 2023.”
Craig Williams – Musical Director, The Staffordshire Band
